Fast Food? No - Fast Tips!
Who likes quick tips? We do. Some quick tips to reduce your household food wastage that don’t take up too much time …
SNAP!
First things first, before you head out for a food shopping spree, take a picture of your (..semi) empty fridge. This way, you'll have a visual reminder of what you already have and avoid buying unnecessary items that might end up as forgotten leftovers. If you have any inventories, have a quick scan of them too so you don’t double up on items.
Meal Planning
We know - how obvious / uninspiring. However, some times the obvious things don’t get done and yet have the biggest impact. First things first, embrace the power of meal planning. It's like having a superhero cape for your fridge! Plan your meals ahead of time, make a grocery list, and stick to it. This way, you'll avoid buying unnecessary items that end up forgotten in the depths of your crisper drawer.
Split that Shop
Depending on where you live and how accessible it is to get to the shops, you could consider doing smaller, more regular shops. When we buy a weekly shop, we tend to overestimate what we need. Is it a pain to dip back out? Yes, it can be. However, some of our team use it as a way to get some additional exercise in and enjoy a podcast along the way.
Remember, reducing food wastage doesn't have to be boring or stressful. Embrace these tips with a smile on your face! Together, we can save money, save the planet, and save ourselves from burnout-induced meltdowns in front of an open fridge door at 2 am. Let's do this!
